Description
Service Dept. and Nightify are taking over TUFF Bar for a Sunday night with tennis on the screens, free-flow drinks, games, and a room full of people who spend an unreasonable amount of time thinking about tennis.
We’ll be watching the US Open fourth-round day session together, with projected matchups including Carlos Alcaraz vs. Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton vs. Arthur Fils, and more. Sadly, no Novak Djokovic. We’re coping.
We’re starting at 9 PM and watching the day-session matches together until 1 AM. Some cheering, unsolicited match analysis, and many people becoming professional coaches from their seats.
Anyone determined to keep watching until 6 AM (night sessions) may continue doing so at their own relationship with Monday morning (and their own bargaining power with the venue owners).
Yes, there’s free flow! Until midnight at least. The bar will remain open for drink purchases after that still.
Grab a drink, watch the matches, argue about who’s winning, and meet other tennis people without having to hit a single ball.
Watching is only part of the night. We’ll have tennis trivia, mini games, some completely legal and financially insignificant fun bets, and possibly a test of whether you can identify certain tennis players from their topless torsos.
Finally, all those hours of tennis research may prove useful.
Tennis attire is very much encouraged.
You do not need to be a pro. You don’t even need to play. We know some of you have invested significantly more time into the tennis wardrobe than the backhand, and we respect the commitment.
This is also one of the first events from Service Dept., a new tennis community built by tennis lovers, for tennis lovers.
There’ll be more events coming both on and off the court. Sometimes we’ll actually play tennis. Sometimes we’ll gather somewhere with drinks and watch other people play it considerably better. Both are important.
